How do I know if I should start therapy?
It’s very common to wonder if your emotional difficulties are big enough or valid enough to “deserve” help. The reality is that you feel what you feel, and everyone deserves to be heard. If you’re in pain, overwhelmed, confused, or feel like you just need another person to talk to, we’re here to listen and to help. Healing and growing can take time, but many people tell us they start feeling better by the end of their first session. Simply having someone able to focus on you, really hear you, and help you express yourself can make a huge difference.
What makes your practice different from all the others in L.A.?
One important distinction is that all of our clinicians are doctoral-level therapists. That means we completed the most extensive graduate training possible in psychological theory, practice, and research before joining this practice.We use our in-depth knowledge of psychology to provide you with personalized treatment that fits your individual needs, all within a secure and supportive therapeutic relationship.Our treatment model typically focuses on long-term, in-depth therapy. In addition to teaching coping skills, we help you explore who you truly are from multiple angles so that you can better understand where you are stuck and find opportunities for growth.
What are your hours and availability?
We offer weekday daytime and evening appointments, as well as weekend appointments.
Do you offer video therapy?
At this time, one of our therapists, Dr. Ryan Witherspoon, provides video therapy to people located in California.
What are your fees?
Dr. Ryan Witherspoon and Dr. Jomana Sweiss: $150 per 45-minute session
Dr. Liz Gustafson: $200 per 45-minute session
We understand that therapy is a significant financial investment and are here to help you navigate this process. We offer reduced-fee sessions depending on need and availability. If we are unable to lower our fees enough to meet your needs, we can provide you with appropriate referrals.
Do you accept insurance?
We are out-of-network therapists, meaning we do not work directly with insurance companies. Our clients pay us out of pocket.
At the start of each month, clients can log into our secure client portal to obtain their itemized “superbill,” which acts as a receipt and can be directly submitted to insurance companies for reimbursement.
To learn more about what your plan will and will not cover, give your insurance company a call and ask them to explain your out-of-network mental health benefits. We find that these questions might be helpful to ask:
What is my deductible? (In other words, how much will you be required to pay before they begin to reimburse you?) What percentage of therapy fees will they cover? Do they provide coverage for treatment by psychologists (Dr. Liz Gustafson) or psychological assistants (Dr. Ryan Witherspoon, Dr. Jomana Sweiss)? Are there any limits on coverage, such as number of sessions per year? What are the steps involved in submitting a superbill receipt for reimbursement?
Some of our clients have used the Better app for their insurance reimbursements and found it simplified the process for them.
What is your cancellation policy?
We request at least 48 hours’ notice for all cancelations. Late cancelation fees will be waived if it is possible to reschedule that appointment for the same week.
Please be aware that insurance companies will not reimburse you for missed session fees.
Once a weekly appointment has been set, expect to meet with your therapist at that time every week unless you or your therapist alert the other of a need to cancel or reschedule.

Located in the heart of Atwater Village, our office is easily accessible from the nearby 2 and 5 freeways, as well as from neighborhoods such as Silver Lake, Glendale, Los Feliz, Highland Park, Echo Park, Adams Square, and Eagle Rock.
Where do I park?
There is typically plenty of street parking on Glendale Boulevard and the surrounding side streets. After 5pm, you can also park in the lot behind our building at no charge if spaces are available.
How do I find your office?
Please use the second external staircase toward the back of our building. When you enter the waiting room, flip the switch next to your therapist’s name and make yourself comfortable. Your therapist will come out to greet you at your appointment time.
