Dr. Brooke Kaufman (she/her)

Many people come to me feeling lost in their own lives, having prioritized others over themselves for too long. Let’s tackle the roots of how you got here, learn to value your worth, and develop strategies to improve the quality of your connection to yourself and others.

Wherever you are in your life, I’ll be there with you, helping you to explore who you are and what you need out of life. We’ll delve into your relationships, what’s working and what isn’t. We’ll discover how you can take care of yourself in new and intentional ways.

My work is informed by research-backed therapies, including Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and mindfulness-based practices. My couples therapy work is informed by the Gottman Method, Solution Focused therapy, and Emotion Focused Psychotherapy.

I also conduct ADHD assessments for adults. My approach is neurodivergent affirming and my goal is to highlight your strengths and provide recommendations to help you meet your goals. In ADHD-informed therapy, I help you explore how engaging in a neurotypical world has impacted your self-esteem, identity, and relationships.

I am an LGBTQIA-affirming therapist experienced in working with people from a wide spectrum of racial, cultural and economic backgrounds. I invite you to share all parts of who you are in our sessions.

Before joining Atwater Village Therapy, I worked at the Berkeley Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Clinic, the San Francisco VA, and Kaiser Permanente Medical Center. I completed my doctorate in Clinical Psychology at The Wright Institute in Berkeley, and I am currently a psychological associate working under the supervision of Dr. Liz Gustafson (PSY29510) as I complete the final requirements to become a licensed psychologist.
