Dr. Brooke Kaufman

Wherever you are in your life, I’ll be there with you, helping you to explore who you are and what you need out of life.

High Achievers, Perfectionism & ADHD

Are you a high-achiever who seems to have it all together on the outside, but feel like you're drowning on the inside? I specialize in helping people overcome anxiety, burnout, and imposter syndrome.

I also conduct ADHD assessments for adults. My approach is neurodivergent affirming and my goal is to highlight your strengths and provide recommendations to help you meet your goals. In ADHD-informed therapy, I help you explore how engaging in a neurotypical world has impacted your self-esteem, identity, and relationships.

Therapeutic Approach

My work is informed by research-backed therapies, including Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and mindfulness-based practices. My couples therapy work is informed by the Gottman Method, Solution Focused therapy, and Emotion Focused Psychotherapy.

Professional Journey and Qualifications

Before joining Atwater Village Therapy, I worked at the Berkeley Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Clinic, the San Francisco VA, and Kaiser Permanente Medical Center.

I completed my doctorate in Clinical Psychology at The Wright Institute in Berkeley, and I am currently a psychological associate (PSB94027511) working under the supervision of Dr. Liz Gustafson (PSY29510) as I complete the final requirements to become a licensed psychologist.

Affirmative and Inclusive Practice

I am an LGBTQIA-affirming therapist experienced in working with people from a wide spectrum of racial, cultural and economic backgrounds. I invite you to share all parts of who you are in our sessions.
