Dr. Ambar Gudino (she/her)

You’ve reached a pivotal moment in your life, one that calls for a deep exploration of your journey, the evolving roles you’ve embraced, and the strategic choices you need to make for a brighter future.

Together, we will challenge the habitual ways of thinking and living that may cause feelings of isolation, sadness, or stress. We will delve into how your experiences—past and present—shape your sense of self and impact your ability to thrive in your community.

My therapeutic approach is finely attuned to the nuances of identity, culture, and immigration with a focus on building community, strengthening relationships, navigating identity shifts, processing grief, overcoming trauma, and planning for the future.

I integrate psychodynamic, cognitive behavioral, dialectical behavioral, narrative, and existential therapies, all through a lens that considers ethnic and cultural identity. This work is deeply influenced by Jungian and Archetypal theories, which help us understand the unconscious roles we assume and how they affect our self-perception.

Let’s work together to transform these challenges into stepping stones for personal growth and a more fulfilling life in your new home.

Before joining Atwater Village Therapy, I provided therapy at Chapman University. I was a counselor and patient’s rights advocate for the Mental Health Association of Orange County, and I worked in the juvenile justice system. I have a masters degree in Forensic Psychology from Argosy University. I completed my doctorate at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology, and I am being supervised by Dr. Jomana Sweiss (PSY32429) as a psychological associate while I complete California requirements to become a clinical psychologist.
